Small Steps Toward Better Health Can Make a Big Impact
About STEPS
The Kentucky Medical Association, and its charitable arm, the Kentucky Foundation for Medical Care, is focused on helping Kentuckians improve their overall health and wellness. According to the 2023 America’s Health Rankings Annual Report, Kentuckians suffer from many health issues, like diabetes, cancer, asthma, depression, among others. Kentucky ranks 41st in overall health in the country. But making many, or a few, lifestyle changes at once to tackle these health challenges can be overwhelming.
The Small STEPS, Big IMPACT campaign will encourage Kentuckians to achieve long-term success through taking simple steps that can add up to a big impact on their health. This broad public health campaign will focus on five key areas— health screenings, tobacco, exercise & nutrition, physician visits and stress— and offer straightforward strategies and support for patients. Physicians, as leaders of the care team, will be walking with patients as they take these steps and make small changes toward better health. The campaign is made possible in part by a grant from the Kentucky Department for Public Health.
